Family Day Fun in Surrey, Vancouver & Richmond!


The first-ever BC Family Day is nearly upon us, and there are plenty of great events happening in Metro Vancouver throughout the weekend to help commemorate the occasion! Try your hand at geocaching, pick-up a paintball gun, or enjoy a scintillating ski day with the kids!


Outdoor Treasure Hunt

There’s really nothing like the thrill of an old-fashioned treasure hunt….well, modern-fashioned, really. This outdoor treasure hunt, happening Saturday, February 9th at South Surrey Athletic Park from 10am-1pm, will have you using a GPS to find hidden containers littered throughout the course. “Geocaching participants navigate to specific Global Positioning System (GPS) coordinates and then attempt to find the cache (container) hidden at that location.” Win great prizes and enjoy a cup or two of hot chocolate. >> Find out more

Panther Paintball

If your family needs to let off some steam, consider going to Panther Paintball in South Surrey, which is offering free admission & rentals on Monday, February 11th starting at noon! Work in a team to secure a stronghold, or craft a well-calculated ambush – this will be family-bonding at its best. >> Find out more

Go Golfing

On February 11th, head to Hazelemere Golf Course, where all youth,18 and under, play free with their parents! (Restrictions apply. Call the golf course for details at 604.538.1818.) There will also be a FREE Family Day golf clinic is happening from 11:30-1:30pm. Bring your family for introductory instruction, and then follow it up with a round!


Britannia Heritage Shipyard

On Family Day weekend, head out to the Britannia Heritage Shipyard, where you can “walk the historic boardwalk and learn about the history of the site through interpretive storyboard signage. Sign out a Britannia Day Pack and have fun exploring the site in a new way with binoculars, scavenger hunt clues and more!” >> Find out more

Children’s Art Festival

Take the kids to the 5th Annual Children’s Arts Festival, happening at the Richmond Cultural Centre from February 11-15, 2013. “The Richmond Cultural Centre, in the heart of City centre, will be transformed into a vibrant and colourful festival atmosphere involving fully interactive workshops, activities and events tailored for children ages 3-12.
