Little Lights, Big Park,
If you’ve ever spent time on Pinterest, you’ve probably come across a picture (or 400) of a tranquil garden scene filled with glowing lanterns and lotus lights, akin to that from a fairytale world (no, really – the Fairytale World Pinterest board). There’s something about the simplicity and serenity of a flickering golden flame lighting up the opaqueness of night that seems in such perfect harmony with the natural world. Just me?
Well, whether you share the same affinity for lanterns as I do or not, you’re bound to enjoy the Garden Light Festival at Bear Creek Park, which is taking place Thursday, November 8th, 2012 from 4:30 – 7:30pm.
There will be lantern-making for kids (or learn how to make your own lantern before the event), as well as a toasty-warm, heated tent that will be serving free hot chocolate and selling gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches and hot dogs.
Wander the pathways and find the 27-foot dragon lantern, enjoy “glowing” dance performances, listen to music by DJ Cuz O, or make your way over the bridge and peer down at a stream filled with lotus lights.
